Free, Easy Parking

If you’ve only recently discovered the Fiber Gallery, you may not have noticed what the old-timers already know: We have our own parking lot! It’s behind the building, with the entrance on 83rd Street. Of course, there’s plenty of street parking, too, so you never have to worry about where to put your car when you visit.

Where Does Yarn Come From?

Where Does Yarn Come From?

During last month’s Art Walk, our special guest Moxie Lieberman decided that we needed a yarn faucet. She poked and sculpted wool all weekend and left us with this inventive and inspiring sculpture for our shop. We are awed.

The knitalong begins June 1 with a kickoff party. It concludes September 13, and as usual we’ll have social and project help sessions along the way. Full details are available in...

New Yarns for Spring

With the warmer weather on its way (really, it is, we swear!) it’s time to think of lighter projects. We have three new yarns that would be perfect. Zooey, from Juniper Moon, is a 60-percent cotton, 40-percent linen DK-weight blend made in Spain. It has a rustic, thick-and-thin texture and comes in a variety of natural shades. Kavo (above), from Portland-based Shibui, is 85 percent cotton and 15 percent silk. Its unusual texture comes from the fact that the fact that the silk is wrapped around the cotton core. It can be knit at DK weight or looser, for a lacy feel. And finally, Llama Lace Melange is a fingering-weight yarn that’s 100 percent baby llama. It’ll knit up into super-soft lace in lovely heathered...
