Starts and Finishes: One 2-hour session. This class will cover multiple types of cast-on and finishing techniques and look at where (and when) to use them. Learn how to add detail to your garments in ways that provide them the physical structure to best show off your knitting and last a lifetime. My First Socks:
Three 2-hour sessions. Learn to knit in the round using traditional double-pointed needles, then turn the heel as you create your first sock. This is a great portable project -- once you start, you'll be hooked.  Buy or bring supplies (list provided at registration) $60 Every Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m.

Bias Lace Scarf: Two 2-hour sessions. A great introduction to simple lace knitting, this scarf creates diagonal stripes using self-striping yarn and knitting on the bias. Buy or bring supplies (list provided at registration). $40

Fair-Isle Wrist Warmers (Color Work for Novices): Two 2-hour sessionsLearn the basics of knitting with two colors and how to follow a chart with these simple Fair Isle wrist warmers. Ribbing on both edges provides for greater versatility then traditional Fair Isle mittens. $40

Steeked Wrist Warmers: Two 2-hour sessions. Make a pair of color work wrist warmers to introduce you to this emotionally scary but easy technique, giving you the courage to take scissors to your knitting in future. Twined Hat: One 2-hour session. Learn to use the traditional Scandinavian technique of “two-end knitting” to create a surprisingly warm hat. Buy or bring supplies (list provided at registration). $20

Felting

Sculpting with Felting Needles: One 2-hour session. Create your own three-dimensional objects such as flowers, animals, or dolls using a needle and unspun wool. Or get ready for an upcoming holiday with felted tree ornaments, Easter eggs or pumpkins.  The choices are endless!  Class fee includes fiber, felting needles and foam pad. $35

Rug Hooking

Primitive Rug Hooking: One 2-hour session. Using bulky-weight yarn and a monkscloth backing we'll make a small project. Once you've learned the skill, you can make anything from an heirloom rug to a carpet bag. Hook and supplies for a small project included. $35

Spinning

Drop Spindling: Why buy yarn when you can make it yourself, the old-fashioned way! And you don’t need an expensive, bulky wheel. We’ll use beautiful hand-crafted drop spindles and learn the techniques of drawing and spinning to create our own fiber as indigenous cultures around the world have done for centuries. Class includes drop spindle and fiber. One 2-hour session. $45

Sit and Knit: All knitters are welcome to bring their latest project and join us for knitting and socialization. All levels of knitters are welcome. Free

Seattle Spinners: Join us for our monthly spinning circle.  Bring your spindle or wheel. Free

First Friday every month, 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Charity Group: Knitters and crocheters are invited to join us every week to socialize while you work on a project for the charity of your choice. All skill levels welcome. Free

Thursdays, noon to 2 p.m.

Novice Sock Knitter Support Group: Never knit on double points? Has magic loop got you flummoxed? Do you feel queasy about turning your first heel? Come to the Novice Sock Knitter Support Group every Saturday and enjoy the company of other knitters while you work through your first socks. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions. Free
